The Study on the Details and the Probability of Success in the Reform of State-owned Enterprises in North Korea : Mainly in Comparison with China

North Korea recently underwent a major experimental reformation in the management system of state-owned enterprises. The centralized state-owned enterprise reformed itself towards decentralization and effeciency. Such North Korea s reform programs of state-owned enterprises are aiming to make planned-economy coexist with market-economy by introducing many of the market economical functions and are very similar to those of China during the 1980s. Looking back from the lessons of China s reformation on state-owned enterprises, its reform in North Korea must inevitably contain directions towards marketnization. This could lead to many transitional confusion and nullify the experiment of economic reform. Failure of such reformations, which already would have provoked the need to change extensively, may not be able to restrain itself and explode in unpredictable directions. Therefore, to eliminate these problems, reformation attempts in North Korea must be an accumulation of success of little reformations .
