부모-자녀 상호작용과 교사-유아 상호작용이 유아의 학습준비도에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Parent-Child Interaction and Teacher-Child Interaction on Child’s School Readiness: Focusing on Mediating Effect of Social Competence

본 연구는 부모-자녀 상호작용과 교사-유아 상호작용이 유아의 학습준비도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고, 사회적 유능감이 이들 사이에서 매개효과를 갖는지 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구 목적을 위해 육아정책연구소(KICCE)에서 제공한 한국아동패널 7차년도(2014년)의 자료를 사용하였으며, 총 1,158명의 유아와 그들의 부모, 담임교사의 자료를 대상으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 부모-자녀 상호작용과 교사-유아 상호작용은 모두 유아의 사회적 유능감에 유의한 정적인 영향을 나타냈다. 둘째, 부모-자녀 상호작용은 유아의 학습준비도에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 반면, 교사-유아 상호작용은 학습준비도에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 유아의 사회적 유능감은 부모-자녀 상호작용과 교사-유아 상호작용이 학습준비도에 미치는 영향에서 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 유아의 사회적 유능감은 학습준비도를 예측하는 매우 강력한 변인으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유아의 학습준비도를 향상시키기 위한 방안으로 교사-유아의 질 높은 상호작용이 중요함을 시사한다. 또한 본 연구는 유아의 초등준비를 위해 이들의 사회적 유능감을 향상시키기 위한 노력이 필요함을 밝힌 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of parent-child interaction and teacher-child interaction on child’s school readiness, and to investigate if social competence has the mediating effect among them. For this, the data of 1,158 children, their parents and their teachers in charge were analyzed by using the 7th year(2014) survey of Korean Children and Youth Panel. The results of this study were as follows. First, both parent-child interaction and teacher-child interaction has a significant positive influence on social competence. Second, parent-child interaction has no significant influence on child’s school readiness whereas, teacher-child interaction has a positive effect on child’s school readiness. Third, child’s social competence showed a mediating effect about influences of parent-child interaction and teacher-child interaction on child’s school readiness. Also, it was revealed that child’s social competence is a very powerful variable which can anticipate the school readiness. These results imply the importance of a high quality of teacher-child interaction as a way of improving child’s school readiness. And this study is very meaningful since it revealed that there’s a need for improving child’s social competence to prepare their elementary school.
