노년기 시민대학 학습자의 학습 참여단계에 따른 경험 탐구

Exploring the Participation Stages and Experiences of Elderly Citizen College Learners

본 연구의 목적은 노년기에 이르러 지자체 시민대학에서 진행되는 비형식학습에 참여하고 있는 연구참여자의 사례를 통해 그들이 어떤 동기로 학습활동에 참여하고 있는지에 대해 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 대전시민대학에서 다년간 다양한 분야의 학습활동에 참여하고 있는 60대 이상의 남녀 각 2명씩, 모두 4명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 2018년 4월부터 7월까지 그들과의 심층적 면담을 통해 얻은 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 연구참여자들은 입문기에 단지 무료함을 달래거나 더욱 의미 있는 삶을 살겠다는 생각으로 학습에 참여하지만, 확장기로 접어들면서 학습의 재미에 빠져들고 더불어 자신감을 키워나갔다. 또한, 정착기에 이르면 자신이 학습을 통해 성숙하고 품격 있는 모습으로 변해있음을 실감하며 만족을 느낀다. 노년기 비형식교육 참여자들은 단계별로 학습에 참여하는 요인이 변화하는 가운데 입문기에는 지속적인 학습 참여가 자신을 변화시킬 것이란 기대감을 가지 않지만, 마지막인 정착기에 이르러 변화하는 자신을 발견하게 된다. 그러면서 ‘품격을 더해가는 삶’과 ‘성장해 있는 나의 발견’으로 정리되는 ‘자아의 성장’을 경험하며 학습에 더욱 매진하는 경향을 드러냈다. 학습이 즐거운 것이고 기대 이상의 성과를 안겨준다는 사실이 확인되었다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the motivation of participating in learning activities through the case of research participants participating in informal learning in municipal colleges of old age. To this end, Daejeon Citizen s College selected four participants, two from each man and woman over 60 years of age who have participated in learning activities in various fields. The in-depth interviews with them are as follows. Participants participate in learning with the idea of just freeing up or getting a more meaningful life at the introductory stage, but as they enter the dilator, they fall into the fun of learning and develop their confidence. In addition, he feels satisfied when he realizes that he has become mature and classy through learning. Older informal education participants find themselves changing in the final stage of settling, although there is no expectation that continuous participation will change them during the introductory period, as factors of participation in learning change in stages. At the same time, he showed a tendency to focus on learning by experiencing growth of self which is organized into life to add dignity and my growing discovery . I was convinced that learning was fun and that it exceeded my expectations.
