미주신경성 실신의 수용경험에 관한 자문화기술지

An Autoethnography on Acceptance Experience of Vasovagal Syncope

본 연구는 미주신경성 실신을 겪은 한 개인의 경험에 관한 자문화기술지 연구이다. 자문화기술지 방법을 통해 한 개인이 미주신경성 실신 증상을 겪으면서 어떠한 경험을 하였는지 이해하고, 그로부터 발생한 불안, 두려움 등의 심리적 고통을 수용해 나가는 과정을 개인의 삶의 맥락 속에서 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, <불안의 함정에 빠지다.>, <변화는 관찰로부터 시작된다.>, <나의 아픔을 수용하기>, <수용적인 조력자로서의 나>의 4가지 범주가 도출되었다. 연구 결과에서는 한 개인의 경험을 신체 감각, 정서, 인지, 사회적 측면에서 기술함으로써 개인의 경험을 심층적이고 다각적으로 접근하도록 하였다. 이처럼, 개인의 내면을 심층적으로 성찰할 뿐만 아니라 미주신경성 실신이 사회문화적 맥락 속에서 어떻게 경험되었는지를 이해하도록 했다. 해당 연구의 의의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미주신경성 실신이 무엇이며, 이러한 증상을 겪고 있는 개인이 어떠한 경험을 하는지 이해할 기회를 상담사들과 일반 대중들에게 제공할 것이다. 둘째, 미주신경성 실신을 겪는 개인의 심리적 고통을 다루기 위해 상담학적으로 어떻게 접근할 수 있을지를 모색하였다. 셋째, 건강을 개인주의적 관점에서만 보지 않고 사회문화적 환경의 맥락으로 확장하였다.

This study looked at the process in the context of an individual’s life in which the person understood what experience he/she had while experiencing vasovagal syncope, and accepted the psychological pain of anxiety and fear from the experience. As a result of the study, four categories were derived. <Fall into a trap of anxiety>, <Change begins with observation>, <To accept my pain>, <me as a receptive helper>. The present study analyzed a person’s experience in four aspects: body sense, emotion, cognition, and social aspect. In addition, the innermost thoughts of individuals were reflected in depth to understand how vasovagal syncope was experienced in the context of social and cultural context. As such, it was understood how vasovagal syncope was experienced in the sociocultural context as well as introspection of the inner side of the individual. The significance of the study is as follows. First, it will provide counselors with a chance to understand what an vasovagal syncope is and what an individual suffering from these symptoms experiences. Second, the study explored how a counseling approach could be developed to deal with the psychological pain of individuals suffering from vasovagal syncope. Third, for the purpose of public health, it was extended in consideration of the context of the social and cultural environment,, beyond an individualistic point of view.
