‘조차·보다’에 관한 16∼20세기 한글편지에서의 문법화 연구

Study for the Grammaticalization of ‘jocha·boda(조차·보다)’ on the Korean Language Letter in Sixteenth∼Twentieth Centuries

이 연구는 16~20세기 한글편지에서의 ‘조차·보다’의 문법화 과정을 고찰하는 데에 있다. 논의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘조차’의 문법화이다. 현대국어에서는 ‘조차’가 보조사의 용법만을 가지나 16∼20세기 한글편지에서는 16·17세기에 본동사와 보조사의 용법으로 쓰인 [체언+‘이’+조차] 구성의 ‘조차’형과, 그 시기의 순천김씨 및 현풍곽씨에서 보인 ‘거믄 헝것 조차 &#58747;여 드러 이시니<현풍35>’ 등의 부사 용법의 ‘조차’형, 그리고 18세기 초반까지는 ‘조차’가 ‘제 안해조차 &#4355;&#4510;리고 오려 &#4370;&#4510;기의 더&#4355;&#4513;&#4523;가<송규렴84>’ 등의 현대국어의 보조사 ‘까지’의 의미로도 함께 쓰였음을 살펴 논하였다. 둘째, ‘보다’의 문법화이다. 현대국어의 ‘보다’는 본용언·보조용언·부사·보조사의 용법을 갖는데, 이러한 ‘보다’의 용법들이 16∼20세기 한글편지에서는 본용언에서 보조용언, 보조용언에서 부사 및 보조사로의 문법화 과정임을 논하였다. 그리고 그 과정에서 보조사의 용법인 ‘보다가&#4354;&#4510;&#4523;’ 및 ‘보다가’형은 ‘나&#4354;&#4510;&#4523; 거월브터 왼편 녑피 올&#4370;&#4510;&#4523; 편보다가&#4354;&#4510;&#4523; 더워<송준길가66(1668∼1698)>’ 등의 17세기 중·후반쯤에 출현함을 밝혔는데, 이는 ‘보다가&#4354;&#4510;&#4523;’ 및 ‘보다가’형의 출현을 18세기 중·후반으로 보는 기존 연구들보다 100여 년이 앞당긴 시기라고 할 수 있다. 또한 ‘보다’는 부사 용법의 ‘보다’형이 20세기 이후에나 발견됨을 근거하여 보조사에서 부사로의 변화 과정인 것으로 통상 논하나 1769년에 쓰인 신창맹씨 한글편지 ‘&#4358;&#4510;&#4363;&#4510;&#4535;속 보다 &#4361;&#4510;연 &#4352;&#4510;&#4355;&#4510;&#4520;&#4370;&#4510;나<신창맹씨20>’를 통해 ‘보다’가 보조사로 문법화될 시기쯤에 부사 용법으로도 쓰였음을 살펴 논한 것이다.

This purpose of this study is to consider the grammaticalization process of ‘jocha·boda’ on the Korean language letter in sixteenth∼twentieth centuries. The discussion is as follows. First is the grammaticalization process of ‘jocha’. I examined the type and function change can be appeared during the grammaticalization process of ‘jocha’ such as a ‘jocha’ form consisting of [Substantive+‘i’+jocha] used as a verb and auxiliary verb in the 16th and 17th centuries, and ‘jocha’ as adverb in the process of function change and so on in the grammaticalization of ‘jocha’. It is the change process that ‘boda’ changes from main verb to auxiliary verb, change from auxiliary verb to adverb and auxiliary postpositional particle in the grammaticalization of ‘boda’ and examined that auxiliary postpositional particle use ‘bodaga&#4354;&#4510;&#4523;’ and ‘bodaga’ type appeared in this process at middle and late seventeenth centuries. This is about 100 year advance than existing studies which think the appearance of ‘bodaga&#4354;&#4510;&#4523;’ and ‘bodaga’ type as middle and late eighteenth centuries. Also, ‘boda’ was discussed as the changing process from auxiliary postpositional particle to adverb which is the direction of lexicalization on grammaticalized auxiliary postpositional particle in existing studies. However, I discussed that ‘boda’ was also used as adverb use at the time it was grammaticalized as auxiliary postpositional particle by Korean letter written in 1769.
