한국을 비롯한 동아시아 문화권의 혼인과 가정, 그리고 「사랑의 기쁨」

Marriage and Family in the East Asian Countries including Korea and Amoris Laetitia

교황 프란치스코는 2014년과 2015년 연속으로 세계주교대의원회의를 소집하였고 2016년 3월 발표된 그 후속 문헌인 「사랑의 기쁨」을 통해 그리스도교 혼인관과 가족관을 현대 사회의 맥락에서 명확히 밝혔다. 다종교 사회인 한국에서 혼인 적령기의 가톨릭 신자가 다른 믿음을 지닌 배우자와의 혼인을 통해서도 자신의 신앙을 지키고 자녀들에게 그리스도교 신앙을 전달할 수 있는가의 문제도 중요하지만, 이보다 더욱 심각한 문제는 가톨릭 신자를 비롯하여 한국의 젊은이들이 일반적으로 혼인과 출산을 기피하고 있다는 사실이다. 이 연구는 이러한 혼인율과 출산율 저하의 원인을 밝히고자 하는 동기에서 시작되었다. 이를 위해 먼저 급격한 사회 변화를 드러내는 통계를 살펴보고자 한다. 이어 한국 사회와 비슷한 사회 변화를 겪는 중국과 일본의 현실에 착안하여 세 나라의 전통적인 가족관을 알아보고 이 나라들이 현대 사회에서 마주한 도전을 사회철학적 관점에서 분석하고자 한다. 이어 「사랑의 기쁨」에 드러난 그리스도교적 가족관의 핵심을 소개하며 이것이 위기를 겪는 동아시아의 유교적 가족관에 어떠한 도움과 비전을 제시하는지 신학적으로 서술하고자 한다. 이 연구에서 가정은 그리스도교의 핵심 가르침인 사랑이 구현되는 첫째 자리로 드러나며, 그러한 의미에서 혼인과 가정 문제는 단순히 실천 신학의 차원을 넘어 교회 가르침의 주요한 주제로 자리매김한다. 동아시아에서 그리스도교 가족관의 구현은 이 지역 및 지역 교회의 미래와 직결되며 지역의 복음화에 가장 중요한 요소 가운데 하나가 되리라 예상된다. 가정생활을 하는 모든 평신도뿐만 아니라 교회를 이끄는 이들과 사목 일선에 있는 이들에게 이 논문은 가정 및 그에 대한 사목과 관련된 새로운 시각을 요청한다.

Pope Francis called the synod of bishops on the topics of home and family in October 2014 and October 2015 successively, and clarified Christian concept on marriage and family life through Amoris laetitia which is a post-synodal apostolic exhortation released in March 2016. In Korea, a nation of plural religions, it is important for Catholics at marriageable age to preserve their belief and pass it down to their children even when they marry those who believe in different religions, but what is more critical than this matter is that Korean young people, including Catholic youth, are in general evading marriage and childbirth. This study has started in an effort to examine the causes for serious drops in marriage and fertility rates. For this purpose, statistics that reveals drastic social changes will be examined first. Then with the observation that China and Japan undergo social changes similar to Korea’s, traditional concept on family life of these three countries will be presented, and the challenges they are facing in modern society will be analyzed from the socio-philosophical viewpoints. Finally, core concept on family life in Christianity, presented in Amoris laetitia, will be introduced, and theologically stated will be how it provides help and vision for the Confucian concept on family in East Asian which undergoes crisis. In this study homes prove the first place where love, the core teaching of Christianity, is realized; in this regard, the issue of marriage and family life establishes itself as an important theme in the teachings of the Church, surpassing the mere level of practical theology. In the East Asia the realization of Christian concept on family life is directly related with the future of this region and local church, not to mention it is expected to be one of the most important elements in the evangelization of the region. This thesis requests not only lay people engaged in family life but Church leaders and pastorate to have a new vision on the issue of marriage and family life.
