The starry flounder Platichhys stellatus were caught at Ji do Island, Sin an, Jeollanamdo from February to May in 2013. The fertilized eggs were observed for morphological development of egg, embryo and larva. Eggs were colorless transparent, separative pelagic, absent of oil globule. The eggs were hatched at 110 hours after fertilization in the range of 12.5℃. Total length of newly hatched larva was 3.07~ 3.49(3.28±0.07 ㎜, n=20). After fertilization, the time for hatching of embryo decreased with increasing with water temperature. The effect of salinity on the hatching rate of embryos was different depending on the temperature range. The newly hacthed larva with closed mouth and anus had developed membranous fin showing waterdrop-shaped structure. The egg yolk was completely absorbed and transferred to post larval stage after 10 days of hatching. At 65~67 days after hatching, morphological features of the larva, 17.57~22.47㎜(19.91±1.63 ㎜, n=20), were transferred to juvenile stage showing similar features with those of the adult fish.
