Relation Analysis Between Victory and the Records of Korean Professional Baseball

본 연구에서는 야구경기에서 팀의 승패를 예측하는 모델을 만들고, 또한 어떤 요인들이 승패에 얼마만한 영향력을 미치고 있는가를 보이고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 경기 내적인 요인을 독립변수로한 로지스틱분석(logistic analysis)을 이용하여 경기의 승패를 예측하는 모델을 찾고, 승패에 어떤 요인이 얼마만한 영향을 미치고 있는가를 알아보기 위해 선형구조방정식(LISREL) 모형을 적용하였다. 승패에 영향을 주는 요인으로 10% 유의수준 하에서 로지스틱분석에서는 득점, 홈런 및 삼진이 유의적인 변수로 나타났다. LISREL 분석에서는 득점, 안타, 포볼 등의 순으로 승패에 영향을 주는 변수로 나타나고 있다. 유의적인 변수 중에서 삼진과 포볼은 모든 분석에서 음(-)영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 로지스틱을 이용하여 승패를 예측하는 경우 80%정도 가능하다는 사실을 확인하였다.

In this study, we have developed statistical models to predict the wining probability of baseball game, and to explain the factors related to victory. We have considered two models; logistic model as a prediction model, and LISREL as a explanatory model. The results of logistic analysis present that elements affected the victory and defeat of baseball game are three elements, score, home-run, and strike-out. The order of the elements of affecting victory and defeat according to the results of LISREL analysis is that the first is score, second is hit, and third is four-ball. All of the results show that two elements, strike-out and four-ball affect minus effect to win. Especially, we can forecast the victory and defeat of baseball game about 80% with logistic analysis.
