계층적 센서 네트워크 환경에 적합한 키 링을 이용한 안전한 키 설정 방식

Secure Key Establishment Scheme using Key Ring for Hierarchical Sensor Network

무선 센서 네트워크는 환경적 요인과 센서 노드의 하드웨어 제약사항으로 보안기술을 적용하는데 많은 한계를 가지고 있다. 대표적인 키 관리 메커니즘인 LEAP는 다양한 통신 모델에서의 키 설정 방식을 제안하였다. 그러나 LEAP의 경우 Pair-wise 키를 설정하기 위해 노드에 사전 로드된 마스터 키를 사용하므로, 초기 마스터 키가 노출되는 경우 공격자가 불법적인 노드를 통해 센서 네트워크를 위협할 수 있다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Pair-wise 키 설정 시 초기 마스터 키를 사용하지 않고 키 링을 이용하여 안전하게 키를 설정하는 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방식은 한 번의 암 복호화 연산과 MAC 연산을 통해 안전하게 키를 설정 할 수 있으며, 노드 캡처 시 네트워크 전체의 손상을 방지할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.

Wireless sensor network has many limitations to apply security technology with environmental factor and hardware spec of sensor node. LEAP which is a representative key management mechanism suggest key establishment method in various communication models. However, this scheme has a problem that attacker could threat sensor network through compromise node if the initial master key is exposed because the preloaded master key is used to establish Pair-wise key initially in case of LEAP. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a secure mechanism to establish Pair-wise key using not initial master key but the key pool. The proposed scheme have some advantages that it needs one-encryption/decryption and MAC computation to secure key distribution and protects total network compromising even if an attacker can capture a node.
