여자 프로골퍼들의 기록과 상금의 관계 분석

Relation between Prize(Dollars) per Round and the Records of Golfers in LPGA

본 논문은 2006년 10월 15일 기준으로 지난 일 년 동안 LPGA에서 활약한 프로골퍼 175명을 대상으로 참가한 대회에서 라운드 당 획득한 상금(달러)과 각종 기록의 관계를 분석한 것다. 고려된 기록은 드라이브 평균 거리, 파온율, 평균 퍼팅수, 파온 후 홀 당 평균 퍼팅수, 벙커 리커버리율, 평균 버디수, 드라이브 정확도이다. 종속변수인 프로골퍼들의 상금이 정규분포를 따른다고 볼 수 없으므로 Box-Cox 변환을 이용한 결과 log변환이 종속변수의 정규성을 보장하는 최적변화임을 발견하였다. 단계 변수 선택법에 의하여 log로 변환된 상금과 통계적으로 유의한 선형관계가 있는 기록은 파온율, 평균 퍼팅수, 파온 후 홀 당 평균 퍼팅수 그리고 벙커 리커버리율이다. 결론적으로 퍼팅의 정교함을 갖추고 파온율이 높은 숏 게임 능력이 탁월한 골퍼들의 상금이 비교적 크다고 볼 수 있었다.

This study intends to investigate the relationship between the amount of prize and the various records of 175 professional golfers who had played in LPGA during 2006. We consider the 7 records of driver average distance, percent of green in regulation, average putting average, puting average after green in regulation per round, driver accuracy, recovery. Since the distribution of dependent variable, prize, does not appear to be normal, we determine logarithm transformation by Box-Cox transformation. Percent of green in regulation, putting average per round, putting average after green in regulation per hole and recovery turn out to be significant records on prize by stepwise selection method. Therefore we conclude that the golfer who has the good putting and iron shots may obtain the more amount of money on the tournaments.
