행정구역별 연령분포 함수들의 군집현상과 변이특성에 관한 함수자료분석적 고찰

A Study on Clusters and Variations of Age Distributions of Korean Administrative Districts

본 연구는 2005년 12월 31일 주민등록인구 기준의 우리나라 행정구역별 각세인구 자료에 대하여 행정구역별 연령분포 함수들의 군집현상과 변이특성을 함수자료분석적 접근법을 사용하여 고찰한다. 분석단계에서는 순수 지역별 특성만을 분석대상으로 하기 위해 전국적 현상의 연령분포 효과가 제거된 중심화된 자료를 이용하여 각 행정구역별 연령분포 함수들을 추정하였으며, 이에 근거하여 함수자료군집분석법을 통한 군집현상과 함수자료주성분분석법을 통한 변이특성을 살펴보고 그 결과들을 통합적으로 설명하였다. 본 연구는 본 연구에서 도출된 여러 가지 사실들이 가지는 의의뿐만 아니라 연령대 구분에 따른 인구구조 연구라는 기존의 연구방법론 틀에서 탈피하여 연속함수적 입장에서 인구구조를 살펴보는 새로운 연구방법론을 시도하였다는 점에서도 의의를 가진다고 할 수 있다

In this paper, clusters and variations of age distributions of Korean administrative districts are examined by functional data analysis. The data to be used are based on resident registration population at the end of the year 2005. Most of the classical approaches to age distribution analysis assume that age is discrete. But in this paper it is regarded as to be continuous. A continuous function that represents the age distribution of each district is estimated by using a spline smoothing method with a roughness penalty. And some methods of functional data analysis, not of traditional multivariate analysis, are applied to the centered functional data of the estimated continuous functions. This paper has two significances: several derived facts of age distributions and a trial of the functional data analysis(FDA) to the study of age distribution
