An Approximation Model to Cellular Networks

In this paper, we present an approximation model to the cellular network. Our approach is based on the two additional assumptions that all mobile users travel according to a Markov chain, and that each user continuously tries to obtain a channel during random intervals. Under these assumptions, we can derive two closed-form formulas about the rates of new call and handover blocking. These formulas enables us to investigate the influences of the number of users and channels on the performance of the network.
