한국 지석묘 사회의 정치 발전 단계

The stage of political development in Korean dolmen society

본고는 한국의 청동기 시대를 대표하는 묘제인 지석묘가 사용되던 사회의 정치 발전 단계에 대한 부분을 정리해 보았다. 대개 지석묘는 거대한 크기, 무게, 제한적 숫자 등으로 보아 지배 계급의 무덤으로 간주하고 있지만, 그렇다고 이 시대가 일괄적으로 계급 사회에 이르렀다는 결론을 내리기는 힘들다는 점을 살펴보았다. 곧, 같은 지석묘 사회라 하더라도 지역과 시기에 따라서 계급 사회(chiefdom)에 이른 곳도 있고, 평등 사회(tribe)에 머물러 있던 곳도 존재했다고 볼 수 있다. 이처럼 지석묘 사회 내에서 계급 사회에 관하여 차별성을 부여한다면, 이 사회가 chiefdom 사회였다는 주장이 한층 설득력을 가질 것이다.

This section summarizes the stage of political development in society where dolmens were used, which represents the Bronze Age in Korea. Usually, dolmens are regarded as tombs of the ruling class by their huge size, weight, and limited numbers, but it was difficult to conclude that this era had reached a hierarchical society in a lump. Even in the same dolmen society, there were some places that reached the rank society (chiefdom) according to region and time, and some places that remained in an equal society(tribe). The argument that the dolmen society was a chiefdom society would be more persuasive if it were to differentiate itself from the class society within the dolmen society.
