Quality of Food and Agriculture Statistics at the International Level

국제수준에서의 식량농업통계의 품질은 그 통계를 이용하는 모든 국가 및 개인에게 중요하다. 먼저 전 세계적으로 농업통계를 다루는 유엔식량농업기구(FAO)와 같은 중요한 국제기구와 한국의 농업통계를 생산하는 농림부와 통계청에 대해 조직 및 생산통계의 종류를 살펴보았다. 이탈리아 로마에 소재 하는 FAO 본부에서 통계자문위원으로 일한 경험을 바탕으로 FAO에서 제공하는 농업통계 데이터베이스의 신뢰성과 품질, 그리고 FAO와 한국의 농업통계 작성기관의 상호관계에 대하여 살펴보고, 국제 통계를 이용할 때 고려해야 할 점들을 제시하였다.

Quality in agriculture statistics at the international level is very important to all countries and users in the world. We first investigate the international organizations that produce worldwide agricultural statistics. FAO is one of the most important organization in agricultural statistics fields. We also investigate agriculture statistics in Korea. We mention some considerations about the reliability and quality of FAO agriculture database and relationship between FAO and MAF from my own experience as a statistics consultant in FAO and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Korea.
