A Statistical Model for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome

후천성면역결핍증은 치명적인 질병으로 공식통계에 따르면 2003년 9월말 현재 우리나라는 2,405명이 감염되어 이 중에서 475명이 사망하여 19.8%의 높은 사망률을 보이고 있음에도 불구하고 지속적으로 증가하는 추세에 있다. 본 연구에서는 후천성면역결핍증 데이터에 대한 통계모형을 개발하여 후천성면역결핍증 데이터를 분석할 수 있게 하고, 아울러 후천성면역결핍증에 대한 의학통계적인 접근을 시도하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 데이터 구조 및 사망이 발생하기까지 단계별로 필요한 통계적인 가정을 전제로 통계모형을 제안하였다.

The acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS) is a novel infectious disease with global impact. In this paper, we develop a statistical model for AIDS-caused-death data under some assumptions. The model developed is a continuous time Markov process with a constant intensity for each stage.
