Analysis of a bottleneck ECN/RED gateway in many user TCP networks

We propose a Markov model of a bottleneck ECN/RED gateway experiencing a large number of TCP users. We show that, as the number of users becomes large, the queue size per user converges at steady-state to a fixed point q *≥0 . Also, we derive a computational algorithm to exactly obtain q * and present several numerical studies showing the behavior of q *.
