On the Data Analytic Functions in Databases

최근 데이터베이스의 가장 큰 변화 중의 하나는 데이터 분석 기능의 강화이다. 과거에 데이터 베이스의 주요 관심사항은 업무의 효율성을 높이기 위한 트랜잭션의 빠른 처리와 데이터의 안전한 관리 등에 있었으나 최근에는 데이터를 분석할 수 있는 SQL 함수와 데이터마이닝 기법들을 다수 추가하고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문의 목적은 데이터베이스의 이러한 흐름이 통계학 분야에 어떤 의미를 줄 수 있을 것인지에 대해 생각해 보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 데이터베이스의 데이터 분석 기능의 발전 과정에 대해 소개하고, 통계학 분야에 어떤 영향을 주고 있는가에 대해 몇 가지 관점에서 살펴보고자 한다.

Recently, one of the most remarkable changes of databases is the enlargement of data analytic functions. The main focuses of databases were safe management of data and fast processing of transactions to improve efficiency of businesses in the past. However, they are including many SQL functions that can analyze data and data mining techniques in recent years. The goal of this article is to explore the meaning that the advances of databases can give in the statistics field. To address this issue we examine the enlargement of data analysis functions in databases and explore the meaning of how the functions affect education and the study of statistics.
