웹 상에서 XML을 이용한 데이터베이스 연동

Database Interworking using XML on the Web

차세대 인터넷 언어인 XML은 웹 상에서 데이터를 교환하기 위한 표준 기술일 뿐만 아니라, 전자 상거래 시스템 통합에 가장 선호 받는 기술이다. 최근 XML을 기반으로 한 e비즈니스 환경구축방안에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹을 통한 데이터의 질의, 분석 및 조작을 용이하게 하기 위해 다양한 XML 기능을 이용한 데이터베이스와의 연동기술에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 관계형 데이터베이스 SQL Server 2000을 중심으로 XML을 활용할 수 있는 XML SQL 기술에 대해 살펴보고, 웹 환경에서 관계형 데이터베이스에 저장된 데이터를 XML 형태로 조회하거나, XML 문서를 관계형 데이터 베이스에 저장하는 방법에 대해 논의한다.

XML, an Internet standard for information exchange, lets us publish data types in a platform-independent manner, facilitating interoperability and e-commerce. XML also separates data from presentation information within Web page, giving us a standard way to define and exchange data between applications and databases. We describe the technology interworking between the XML and database to facilitate the data query, analysis and manipulation on the Web. We examine the XML features provided by SQL Server 2000 and the SQL Server-XML architecture; generate and specify the structure of an XML document from SQL Server database; insert XML data into SQL Server database; publish a SQL Server database on the Internet; and describe how XML and SQL Server are used in real-world Internet applications.
