Longitudinal hyperlink analysis of political websites

이 논문은 월드와이드웹공간에서 나타나는 한국의 정당들과 국회의원들 사이의 온라인 커뮤니케이션 네트워크의 구조가 시간이 경과하면서 어떻게 변화되는지를 조사 및 분석한 것이다. 본 논문에서 온라인 커뮤니케이션 네트워크는 정당 및 의원이 운영하는 웹사이트에 내재된 하이퍼링크로 조작적으로 정의된다. 분석자료는 2000년과 2001년 각 정당 및 국회의원 웹사이트에서 획득하였다. 수집된 하이퍼링크 데이터를 분석하기 위하여 사회 네트워크 분석에서 사용되는 다양한 기법을 이용하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 정당 웹사이트들이 가장 중심적인 위치를 차지했다. 그리고, 구조를 측정하는 지표들은 2년 동안에 정치 행위자들 사이의 네트워크가 좀 더 촘촘히 결합되고 상호간 가까워지고 있다는 것을 보여주고 있다.

This paper examines online communication networks using political websites. More specifically, the paper analyzes the structure of hyperlink-mediated communication patterns among South Korean political parties and National Assemblymen and how the structure has changed over the last two years. The communication network is defined by the existence of hyperlinks among political websites. The data were obtained for 2000 and 2001. Several techniques from social network analysis were used. The results reveal that the three major parties are most central in hyperlink network, and the network has become more centralized and denser over time.
