많은 분야에서 빈곤 문제에 대한 연구가 수행되고 있다. 최근에 다차원 문제로 빈곤에 대한 개념적 틀을 고려하고 있으나 이는 식량 불안정과 기아문제에 밀접하게 관련되어 있다. 본 연구는 식량빈곤에 대한 유엔식량농업기구(FAO)의 추정방법에 초점을 맞추어 데이터 출처 및 정도, 표본설계, 확률모형과 절사점을 통계적 측면에서 검토하였다. FAO에서 사용하는 식량빈곤에 대한 측정과 통계적 문제를 개선하기 위하여 유엔개발계획(UNDP)과 세계은행(WB)에서 개발되어 사용하는 새로운 측도를 식량빈곤에 적용하기 위한 방법을 고려하였다.

Many researches are doing on the poverty problem in various area. Recently, conceptual framework of poverty is considered as a multidimensional problem, however, it is closely related to food instability and hunger. This study concentrate on the FAO estimation method used for food poverty, and review data sources and precision, sampling design, probability model, and cut-off point using statistical perspectives. We suggest some newly developed measurement from UNDP or WB to improve the measurement and statistical matters of food poverty in the FAO methodologies.
