Census 2004 in East Timor

본 연구에서는 먼저 동티모르에서 국가통계국의 역사를 간단히 살펴보고 2002년 5월 20일 독립국가로 출범한 이후 처음으로 실시한 지난 2004년 인구주택센서스의 준비과정을 시간의 흐름에 따라 정리하면서 통계적 측면을 살펴보았다. 비록 작은 나라이고 독립 후 처음으로 실시하는 센서스이었지만 유엔기구나 선진국의 도움으로 성공적으로 조사를 마무리하였으며 그들의 경험으로부터 우리가 배울 수 있는 것을 몇 가지 정리하였다. 또한 향후 그들이 센서스 조사 자료를 활용하여 분석할 수 있는 과제를 제시하였다.

We study the census 2004 in East Timor. First, we review the history of the Division of National Statistics in Esat Timor. Then, we study the whole process of the 2004 census in East Timor by the timeline with statistical aspects. Although East Timor is a very small and poor country and it is the first experience after the independence day on May 20, 2002, we could learn some lessons from their experiences. We summarize some teachings from East Timor s experiences. We also suggest some statistical analysis using census data.
