Meta-analysis of Suicidal Ideation in Elderly

본 연구는 한국 노인의 자살관련 변인에 관한 양적연구 결과를 통합하여 한국 노인 자살생각변인과 관련된 효과크기를 밝혀 노인 자살생각 관련 연구의 방향성을 제시하고, 노인 자살을 예방할 수 있는 실질적인 자료를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 체계적 고찰과 메타분석을 통해 2001년에서 2015년까지 15년간 발표된 노인자살생각변인에 대한 53편의 국내연구를 대상으로 메타분석을 실시하였다. 메타분석결과 심리적요인(0.390)이 가장 높았으며, 가족적(0.359), 사회적(0.290), 신체적(0.260), 경제적(0.241), 인구학적(0.141)순으로 효과크기를 보였으며, 세부항목별로는 우울(.533), 스트레스(0.455), 무망감(0.411)이 중간정도의 효과크기를 보였으며, 존중감(0.393), 외로움(0.374), 상실(0.369), 가족지지(0.358), 학대(0.327), 건강상태(0.314), 경제상태(0.251) 일상생활정도(0.238), 사회참여(0.220), 친구지지(0.194), 성별(0.189), 신체적(0.188), 스트레스대처(0.166), 연령(0.128), 학력(0.111)은 낮은 효과크기를 보였다. 연구에 이용된 도구로는 SIS(4.477), SSI(5.006)로 SSI가 더 높은 효과크기를 보였다. 한국노인의 자살률이 증가하고 있음을 고려할 때 메타분석을 통해 한국노인자살생각에 대한 유발요인에 관한 연구를 종합 분석한 본 연구의 결과는 그 의의가 크다고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to integrate the quantitative study results on elderly suicide-related variables; identify the size of effects of suicidal ideation variables in Korean elderly for evidence-supported nursing research. Based on systematic exploration and meta-analysis, 53 Korean studies on elderly suicidal ideation variables released for 15 years from 2001 to 2015 were organized comprehensively herein. And to produce more objective results, quantitative integration was pursued by running the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis found the psychological factor (0.390) the strongest; followed by family factor (0.359), social factor (0.290), physical factor (0.260), economic factor (0.251), and demographic factor (0.141). In the sub-dimensional level, depression (.533), stress (0.455), and hopelessness (0.411) showed middler effect size. Concerning the study instruments, the SSI showed higher effect size with 5.006 than SIS with 4.477. In the situation of increasing suicide rate of Korean elderly, the study findings are deemed significant as it comprehensively analyzed the causes of Korean elderly suicidal ideations through the meta analysis.
