SMEs’ Process Design and Technology Commercialization Capabilities: The Moderating Role of Testing and Inspection Capability

Technology commercialization capability is very crucial for the survival and growth of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). But little light has been shed on the influences of such important antecedents as the process design capability and testing and inspection capability on SMEs’ technology commercialization capability. Therefore, this study attempted to empirically examine the influences of them by analyzing the 2,000 samples collected from South Korean SMEs. The analysis results of this study by using the ordinary least squares regression have revealed that SMEs’ process design capability has a positive influence on their technology commercialization capability and this positive influence of the process design capability becomes more higher as their testing and inspection capability grows more higher. Through these findings, this study sheds a new light on the point that it is effective to develop SMEs’ process design capability and testing and inspection capability in reinforcing their technology commercialization capability.
