Jeongkyungse s Contention about Jeonrye Problem From a Philosophical Point of View

인조가 반정을 통하여 왕위에 오르면서 사친(私親)인 정원군에 대한 애정으로 자식으로서의 효의 감정을 숨길 수가 없었다. 이런 것이 인조반정의 주체세력인 박지계와 그의 주변 사람들이 그러한 문제를 해결해 주기 위하여 전례(典禮)문제를 제기하게 된다. 먼저 인조가 사묘친제(私廟親祭) 때에 사친인 정원군을 어떻게 불러야할 것인가가 문제가 되는데 대부분의 논의에 참여한 사람들은 아버지라고 불러야 된다고 하였다. 그러나 정경세는 인조가 선조의 친손자이기에 사친인 정원군에 대한 제사 때의 축문칭호는 현고(顯考)는 안 되고 그냥 고(考)로 할 것을 주장하였다. 그 뒤 인조의 생모인 계운궁의 상을 당하게 되자 박지계는 인조가 삼년상 복을 입고 백관이 기년복을 입어야한다고 주장하였다. 반면에 정경세는 그렇게 해서는 안 된다고 하면서 부장기가 옳다고 하였다. 물론 인조도 박지계의 주장처럼 어머니에 대하여 삼년상을 하고 싶었다. 그러나 인조가 대통을 계승하여 왕위에 올랐으면 종통에 대한 일들이 중요하기 때문에 국가의 일을 소홀히 할 수 없다. 그래서 삼년상은 해서는 안 된다는 것이 정경세의 주장이다. 또한 계운궁 상에 있어서 상주는 사가(私家)의 동생인 능원군이 되어야 한다고 주장한다. 이후 발생한 추숭문제에 있어서 정경세는 정원군의 추숭은 있을 수 없다고 하였다. 그렇지만 인조반정의 주체세력들은 정원군을 추숭하여 원종으로 추존하고 종묘에 입묘까지 하게 된다. 물론 인조의 생모인 啓運宮 具氏도 인헌왕후로 추존하였다.

Injo is the king who seized the power through treason. Being a king after the political event, he made an effort to honor his father, Jungwongun(定遠君) as king s father. But, his effort made an issue about precedent. Parkjigye(朴知誡) and supporters raised the issue to solve this problem. First, There was an issue about how to call Injo s father, Jungwongun in the event of samyochinje(私廟親祭). Most of people insisted that Injo call Jeongwongun as father. But, Kimjangsang was the only one who insisted that Injo call Jeongwonhun as uncle(伯叔父母). In debates, Jeongkyungse(鄭經世) insisted that Injo call just ko(考), not hyun ko(顯考) because he was a descendent of a royal family, grandson of Seonjo. After gyewoongung(啓運宮), who was Injo s mother, passed away, Parkjigye insisted that Injo put on samnyeonsang(三年喪) and Bakgwan(百官) put on kinyunbok(朞年服). Unlike this opinion, Jeongkyungse insisted he put on bujangki(不杖朞), instead of using it. Of course, Injo would like to do three-year mourning. However, Jeongkyungse insisted that three-year mourning shouldn t be carried out because of jongtong(宗統). Injo succeed to throne of daetong(大統), so the duty related to jongtong was more important than samnyeonsang. In addition, he suggested that Injo put on byujangkibok as chief mourner of gyewoongung mourning should be nungwongun(綾原君). As to the issue of chusung(追崇) happened after that, he insisted that Jungwongun shouln t be honored as chusung. Despite of this opinion, Injo and his supporters had jungwongun as wonjong(元宗) and transferred the mountuary table to the Royal Ancestral Shrine, Furthermore, they had Injo s mother, gyewoongung as Inhyunhwanghoo(仁獻王后).
