대학 글쓰기 교육의 현실과 미래

A Study on the Problem of Writing Education and Overcoming

본 연구의 목적은 한국 대학 글쓰기 교육의 문제점을 살피고, 극복 방안을 제시해 보는 데 있다. 한국 대학의 글쓰기 교과목은 2000년을 기점으로 다양한 모습으로 변모하고 있다. 대부분의 대학에서 글쓰기 교과목을 필수로 지정하고, 글쓰기 전담 교수를 채용해서 교재개발 및 글쓰기 교육 전반의 운영을 맡기고 있다. 대학에 따라서는 책임교수를 지정해서 교육의 전반을 책임감 있게 운영하도록 하는 대학들도 늘어나고 있다. 최근 들어서는 글쓰기센터를 설치하는 대학들이 늘어남으로써 짧은 역사를 지닌 대학 글쓰기 교육이 빠른 성장을 보이고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 일부 대학에서는 필수 교과에서 선택 교과로 바꾸는가 하면, 학점을 줄이는 경향을 보이고 있다. 이런 점에서 볼 때 한국 대학의 글쓰기 교육은 대학별로 큰 차이를 보인다는 현실적인 문제점을 안고 있다. 차이의 요소는 글쓰기 교과목 전담 교수 유무, 글쓰기 책임 교수 유무, 글쓰기 교과목을 도우는 튜터 유무, 글쓰기 교과목 수강 정원, 글쓰기 교육 시수 및 기간, 글쓰기 관련 교과목 수, 글쓰기 교수자 처우, 글쓰기 교수자의 연구력, 글쓰기 교과목 운영 관련 지원 등이다. 이런 요소들의 차이는 글쓰기 교육의 질과 연결된다. 대학 당국들의 세심한 관심과 노력, 교과목 담당교수들의 전문성 강화 등이 이런 차이를 극복하게 할 수 있고, 글쓰기 교육의 질을 높일 수 있는 최선의 방안이다.

The purpose of this research is to examine the problem of writing Korean university education and to suggest ways to overcome it. The Korean university s writing curriculum is becoming diversified in 2000. In most universities, the curriculum is dedicated to writing and writing a curriculum dedicated to writing and writing the entire curriculum. The meticulous attention and effort of university authorities is the best way to overcome these differences and to improve the quality of writing education.
