Review of Admiral Yi Sun-sin s Appointment as a Samdosu Military Controller during the Japanese Invasion of Korea

이순신의 통제사 임명일이 언제이냐의 문제는 이순신이 임진왜란에서 승리의 주역을 강조하는 데 있어서 소소한 부분이다. 조선 시대 통제영, 통제사를 다룬 대부분의 연구는‘이순신은 1593년 8월에 통제사로 임명되었다.’고 서술하고 있다. 실제 현재 전하는 국보 제76호 『임진장초』의 실물을 연구자들이 쉽게 접하였다면, 이 소소한 부분은 해결되었을 것으로 여겨진다. 대부분의 연구자들은 『이충무공전서』의 장계를 인용하면서 이 문헌을 전적으로 의지하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 이러한 현실은 이순신의 필사본 일기와 『이충무공전서』의 일기의 영역까지 확장해 볼 수 있다. 국보 제76호 『임진장초』에는 장계를 올린 날짜와 직책이 기록되어 있으나, 『이충무공전서』에는 기록되어 있지 않다. 이를 간과해서는 안 된다. 이순신이 1593년 8월에 통제사로 임명되었다는 내용을 본고에서 검토하기 위하여 국가지정문화재 국보 『임진장초』와 덕수이씨 문중에서 소장하고 있는 이순신의 교서 모음집 『교서』, 『이충무공전서』의 ｢삼도통제사를 임명하는 교서｣를 함께 비교·분석하였다.

This should not be overlooked. Yi Sun-sin was appointed as a controller in August 1593. In order to prove this in this paper, the collection of Yi Sun-sin s teaching books, collected by the National Treasure No. 76 『Imjinjangcho』, Deoksu Yi Clan, and the collection of Yi Sun-sin s teaching books, 「The Memorandum of Appointing the Commander of the Three Provinces도, were also compared and reviewed.
