This study explores how to implement a movie into an EFL setting and analyzes the benefits of doing this. Movies are a very effective teaching aid in English education and their benefits to EFL instruction can be analyzed from a variety of perspectives. The movie The Blind Side (Hancock, 2009) was selected for this study since it has abundant use of daily conversational English and involves a number of diverse cultural elements. In addition, it is based on a true story that emphasizes the value of family. From the movie, seven scenes were selected for analysis and two scenes were presented as samples for the present study. Various analyses from the two scenes are presented from the perspective of English pronunciation and culture. Some phonological phenomena such as contraction, linking, and flap are presented with examples from dialogues in the movie. Some cultural factors that deal with the US educational system, holidays, and American football are analyzed and presented. Using Google Earth is recommended in order to explain the locations or places with regards to a foreign culture. Based on the findings of the study, some implications and applications are discussed.
