대학생의 비판적 사고력, 메타인지, 문제해결력간의 관계 연구

The Relations of College Students’ Critical Thinking and Metacogniton to Problem Solving Ability

본 연구는 대학교육에서 중요시되어야 하는 비판적 사고력과 메타인지, 그리고 문제해결력 간의 관련성을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구에서 상정한 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 B광역시 P대학에 재학 중인 1,2학년 학생 총 266명을 연구대상으로 선정하여, 비판적 사고 기술, 비판적 사고 성향, 메타인지, 문제해결력 검사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료의 상관분석 결과, 비판적 사고 기술을 제외한 나머지 하위변인들 간에는 대부분 유의한 상관이 나타났다. 그러나 비판적 사고 기술과 비판적 사고 성향 간에는 유의한 상관이 나타나지 않아 이에 대해서는 연구가 재차 필요함을 알려주었다. 마지막으로 비판적 사고성향과 메타인지의 하위요인들을 독립변인으로 상정하고, 문제해결력을 종속변인으로 상정하여 단계적 다중회귀분석을 한 결과, 유의한 3개의 모형이 생성되었고, 투입된 변인의 순서는 자기신뢰성, 인지전략, 체계성이었다. 문제해결력에 영향을 주는 가장 큰 요인은 비판적 사고 성향 중 자기신뢰성으로 나타나, 비판적 사고 기술이나 메타인지와 비교해 볼 때, 비판적 사고 성향이 문제해결력을 가장 잘 예측해 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대학교육에서 문제해결력을 갖춘 인재를 양성하려면 무엇보다도 비판적 사고 성향을 향상시킬 수 있는 교육 프로그램이 우선적으로 제공될 필요가 있음을 시사해주고 있다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the college students’ critical thinking and metacogniton to problem solving ability. For this purpose, a total of 266 college students were asked to respond to the critical thinking skill inventory, the critical thinking dispositions inventory, the metacognition inventory, and the problem solving inventory. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations and multiple regression using for SPSS windows. The results of this study were as followed: first, the statistically positive correlation was found among critical thinking disposition, problem solving ability, metacognition. But there were not significant correlations between critical thinking skill and other variables. Second, problem solving ability was significantly influenced by three factors: self-confidence, cognitive strategy and systematicity. Among them, self-confidence was the most the predicting variable in problem solving ability. Therefore to enhance problem solving of college students, it seems necessary to develop and utilize the programs that enhances critical thinking disposition and metacognition.
