맞춤형 독서프로그램 개발을 위한 초·중·고 학생들의 읽기 효능감 분석

Analysis of Students Reading Self-Efficacy for Developing Differentiated Reading Programs

본 연구는 학교 독서 교육의 새로운 방향으로서 맞춤형 독서 교육을 제안하고, 이를 위해 실시한 초·중·고 학생들의 읽기 효능감 검사 결과를 분석한 것이다. 맞춤형 독서프로그램은 학생들의 다양한 상황과 요구에 맞추어 교육과정과 수업을 설계하는 체계적인 접근이다. 맞춤형 독서프로그램 개발을 위해 인천광역시교육청 산하 초·중·고 각 4개교씩, 총 960명을 대상으로 읽기 효능감 검사를 시행하였다. 그 결과에 따른 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들은 또래와의 상호 비교를 통해 읽기에 대한 자신감을 얻거나, 주변인들의 긍정적 피드백으로 자신을 능숙한 독자로 인식하는 경험이 적은 것으로 보였다. 이에 따라 맞춤형 독서프로그램에서는 학생들 간의 상호작용을 더욱 강화할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 초·중·고 전체 학생들의 읽기 효능감은결과 중에서 중학생들의 점수가 유의미하게 낮았다. 이는 중학교 단계에서 특히 읽기 효능감을 고려한 맞춤형 독서프로그램 설계가 필요하다는 것을 시사한다. 셋째, 고등학생들의 읽기 효능감은 중학생들의 읽기 효능감보다 높게 나타났고, 초등학생들의 읽기 효능감과 비슷한 수준으로 회복된 것으로 보였다. 그러나 고등학생들의 경우 졸업 후 평생 독서로까지 연결될 수 있도록 독서프로그램을 구성할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 초·중·고 전체 학생들의 성별에 따른 읽기 효능감 차이는 없었지만, 초등 고학년 남학생들의 읽기 효능감이 여학생들에 비해서 유의미하게 낮게 나타났다. 남학생들의 발달적 특징을 고려한 프로그램 개발과 교사 지원이 필요하다고 볼 수 있다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the implications of the analysis of the elementary, middle and high school students’ reading efficacy tests for the development of differentiated reading programs. Differentiated reading programs are a systematic approach to designing curricula and classes to suit students diverse situations and needs. In order to use reading efficacy as an indicator of the development of differentiated reading programs, a total of 960 students, each from four elementary, middle and high schools under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, were tested for reading efficacy. The results gave the following implications for developing differentiated reading programs. First, it is necessary to consider more social factors when organizing reading programs. Second, differentiated reading programs should be designed to consider the status of the middle school students’ reading efficacy and should be organized so that the high school students’ reading efficacy be linked to life-long reading activities. Third, it is not necessary to organize the differentiated reading program by gender overall, but it is helpful to give special support from teachers for elementary senior male students.
