This paper empirically compares the association between ambient temperature and the work values of individualism, power distance, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and future orientation culture dimensions developed by Hofstede and GLOBE. The results show that power distance has a positive relation to temperature in terms of Hofstede and GLOBE’s power distance values. Temperature has a negative relation to Hofstede’s individualism score and GLOBE’s institutional collectivism score. Regarding the masculinity dimension, temperature has a positive and significant relation to Hofstede’s masculinity score and a negative relation to the egalitarianism score. Temperature is not significantly related to uncertainty avoidance or long-term orientation according to Hofstede’s scales, but it does have a significant relation to them in terms of GLOBE’s scales. Some important managerial and theoretical implications are suggested.
