노인의 학대경험정도와 자살생각과의 관계에서 우울과 자아존중감의 매개효과

Effect of Abuse on Suicidal Ideation Among the Older Adults: Focused on the Mediating Effect of Depression and Self Esteem

본 연구는 노인을 대상으로 학대와, 자살생각, 자존감, 우울간의 관계에 대한 모형을 가정하고 검증하기 위한 연구로, 성남시에 거주하는 60세 이상의 남녀 노인 800명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 학대를 독립변수, 우울과 자아존중감을 매개변수, 자살생각을 종속변수로 하여 모형을 구성하였으며, 자료 분석은 연구모형의 가설을 구조방정식으로 분석하기 위해 AMOS 5.0을 활용하였다. 분석결과 설계한 모형의 적합도는 chi-square=823.683(df=292, p<.001, chi-square/df=2.821), TLI= 0.916, CFI=0.930, RMSEA=.0.048이며, 연구가설 검증 결과 학대에서 자살생각으로 가는 총 효과(β=0.351) 중 간접효과가 55.1%(β=0.192)를 차지하였다. 결과적으로 노인학대가 자살생각에 미치는 영향과 학대받는 노인이 자살생각을 하게 되는 경로에 있어서 자아존중감과 우울의 매개효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 결과에 따라 노인의 자살예방을 위해서 학대받는 노인에 대한 개입과 함께, 특히 학대받는 노인에 대한 우울증 치료 및 자아존중감 증진을 위한 프로그램이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

This study intends to investigate the main and mediating effects which depression and self esteem on suicidal ideation of older adults considering the relationship with abuse. The survey was conducted upon 800 older adults. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 and SEM (structural equation modeling) method using AMOS 5.0. The summary of the result is as follows. First, the entire model including measurement and structural model shows sufficient fit index of chi-square=823.683 (df=292, p<.001, chi-square/df=2.821), TLI= 0.916, CFI=0.930 and RMSEA=.0.048. Second, the total effect from ‘abuse’ to ‘suicidal ideation’ was beta=0.351, and 55.1% (beta=0.192) was indirect effect. And consequently, the effects of ‘abuse’ on ‘suicidal ideation’ are significantly mediated by the ‘depression’ and ‘self esteem’. In conclusion, we could confirm the necessity of the program about depression prevention and self esteem enhancement for abused old adults.
