Analysis of physioactivities on D Yakchim

Objectives : This study was carried out to analyze the effects on anti-oxidatant and anti-inflammatory activies of D Yakchim. Methods : The antioxidative activities of D Yakchim was measured by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl(DPPH) radical scavenging activity. And cyclooxygenase-2, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 were measured to investigate the anti=inflammatory effect of D Yakchim. Results : DPPH free radical scavenging activity of D Yakchim was significantly increased compared to butyl hydroxyanisole. Also, D Yakchim showed anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the production of cyclooxygenase-2, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6. Conclusions : These results suggest that D Yakchim might have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory therapeutic potential. Further investigation including exact mechanisms should be needed.
