The study on the constitution discrimination in Immuno-Yakchim

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the constitution discrimination and the character of constitution in Immuno-Yakchim. Methods : Extract and consider contents from Immuno-Yakchim literature. Results & Conclusions : 1. Considering the climate, area and distinguishing the body shape, constitution is the basis of Oriental Medicine. The importance of constitution discrimination was emphasized because incorrect constitution discrimination can lead to side effects. 2. <Meridian (經絡) Volume 1>, published in 1967, was discriminated 6 constitutions depending on body shape, meridians, personality etc. The theory were divided eum-constitution (陰體質) and yang-constitution (陽體質) by eum-yang (陰陽), and were divided naeng-constitution (冷體質)[gweoleum-type (厥陰形), soeum-type (少陰形)] seub-constitution(濕體質)[taeum-type (太陰形)], hwa-constitution (火體質)[soyang-type (少陽形), yangmyeong-type (陽明形)], poong-constitution(風體質)[taeyang-type (太陽形)] by three eum three yang (三陰三陽). In <Meridians (經絡) Volume 2>, yangmyeong-type (陽明形) was separated to yeol-constitution (熱體質) and the theory were divided naeng-constitution (冷體質)[gweoleum-type (厥陰形), soeum-type (少陰形)] seub-constitution (濕體質) [taeum-type (太陰形)], hwa-constitution (火體質)[soyang-type (少陽形)], yeol-constitution (熱體質)[yangmyeong-type(陽明形)] poong-constitution (風體質)[taeyang-type (太陽形)] 3. Constitution discrimination was changed with living environment and human immune. <Meridian (經絡) Volume 4>, published in 1976, was discriminated 4 constitutions. People who have high blood pressure are hwa-constitution(火體質) and people who are obesity and have not high blood pressure are seub-constitution (濕體質). People who are weak, skinny, have not high blood pressure are naeng-constitution (冷體質) and the others are standard constitution(標準體質). 4 constitution discrimination is compared to 6 constitution discrimination clinically convenient. 4. The theory explained that Suseunghwagang (水昇火降; ascending kidney water and descending heart fire) is main treatment in any constitution. Hwa-constitution (火體質) and seub-constitution (濕體質) have to do Suseunghwagang(水昇火降) because they have condition in hwaseumgsugang (火昇水降) . Naeng-constitution (冷體質) have to do Suseunghwagang (水昇火降) after treat naeng-merdian. Standard constitution (標準體質) have not disease but have to do Suseunghwagang (水昇火降) for moving the energy of body.
