Clinical Effectiveness of Immno-Yakchim in Herpes Zoster: A Case Series

Herpes zoster (Shingles) is a disease since the Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) had been dormant in the sensory dorsal root ganglion, reactivated in the immunocompromised status. Main symptoms are the herpes rash of the skin accompanied by unilateral pain. Immuno-Yakchim is one of the Korean medicine therapy for treating a disease through the Su-Seung-Hwa-Gang & Pyo-Li-Tong-Ki by the method of injecting purified herbal extract at the meridian points. We analyzed the clinical cases to determine the therapeutic effect of immuno-Yakchim for Herpes zoster. In conclusion, treatment of immuno-Yakchim for acute stage of herpes zoster might be effective, and tendency of suppressing the transition to postherpetic neuralgia.
