Screening of Antimicrobial Activity and Bioactivity Effects are Herbal Medicine Extracts of Acne

Objectives : The aim of this study is screening of effective anti-microbial activity and bio-activity from herbal medicine. Methods : In this study, analyzed the amount of total sugar, reducing sugar, protein and flavonoid of herbal medicine. Screening of anti-microbial properties of acnes strains. The anti-oxidative effect of herbal medicine was analyzed by investigating 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl free radical scavenging activity. To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect, cyclooxygenase-2, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 were measured. Results : The anti-microbial activity of 11 herbal medicine extracts. 7 herbal medicine extracts showed relatively higher anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effect. Also showed Inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6. Conclusions : Herbal medicine extracts have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, and inhibition effect of the cyclooxygenase-2, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6.
