Interrater Reliability of the Braden Scale

본 연구는 브라덴 도구(Braden scale)의 전체항목과 하부항목에 대하여 측정자간 일치도를 급내상관계수로 평가하고 대상자의 특성에 따른 측정자간 일치도의 분포를 파악하기 위해 실시되었다. 2011년 7월부터 8월까지 B시에 위치한 P시에 근무하는 1-10년 경력의 간호사 53명이 동일 기관에 입원한 173명의 환자를 대상으로 브라덴 도구를 이용하여 일치도를 평가하고 측정자간 일치도(intraclass correlation coefficient, ICC)와 이의 95% 신뢰구간을 구하였다. 연구결과 전반적인 일치도의 ICC는 .88(95% CI: .85-.91)이었고, 개별항목에 대한 일치도는 습한정도 .60(95% CI: .52-.68)에서 활동정도 .84(95% CI: .80-.87)로 다양하였다. 결론적으로 전반적인 측정자간 일치도는 매우 우수하였으나, 하부항목중 습한정도와 영양상태에서는 상대적으로 낮은 일치도를 보였다. 따라서, 습한정도와 영양상태의 측정자간 일치도가 낮은 이유를 파악하고, 이를 개선하기 위한 중재가 필요하다.

Purpose: This study was to measure the interrater reliability of Braden scale and its individual items. Methods: 53 nurses with 1 to 10 year working experience assessed 173 patients’ pressure ulcer risk with Braden scale in an P university hospital in Busan metropolitan city during July to August, 2011. The interrater reliability was analyzed by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: Overall ICC was .88 (95% CI: .85-.91), ICC for individual items ranged from .60 (95% CI: .52-.68) for moisture to .84 (95% CI: .80-.87) for activity. Conclusion: Overall interrater reliability with Braden scale was high, but less satisfactory in moisture and nutrition items. It is needed more efforts to improve the interrater reliability for the items showed relatively low interrater reliability such as moisture and nutrition.
