불임센터 간호사의 환자 프라이버시 보호행동에 대한 인식 및 실천

Perception, and Performance of Fertility Center Nurses’ Protecting Behavior for the Patient Privacy

본 연구는 불임센터 간호사들의 환자 프라이버시 보호행동에 대한 인식 및 실천 정도와 그 관계를 파악하여 불임 영역에서의 환자 프라이버시 관련 교육의 필요성을 제시하고 환자 프라이버시 보호 관련 교육프로그램의 기초자료를 마련하고자 시도되었으며, EMR이나 OCS를 사용하고 있는 9개 병원 불임센터 간호사 149명을 편의추출하였다. 환자 프라이버시 보호행동에 대한 인식 및 실천 정도는 4.26점, 3.67점(5점 척도)이였으며, 80.5%가 프라이버시 교육을 받은 경험이 있었고, 94.7%의 간호사가 불임센터에서의 프라이버시 보호의 중요성에 대해 인식하고 있었다. 프라이버시 보호에 대한 인식에 비해 실천 정도는 유의하게 낮았으며, 프라이버시 보호행동 실천은 인식이 증가할 때마다, 주임간호사 이상에서, 프라이버시 관련 교육이 필요하고 불임센터에서는 프라이버시 간호가 더 많이 필요하다고 생각할수록 증가하고, 프라이버시 관련 교육을 받은 경우와 임상경험이 10년 이상인 경우에 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 환자 프라이버시 보호행동 실천에 대한 전체 설명력은 57%였다 불임센터의 진료 및 환자 특성을 고려할 때, 간호사를 위한 환자 프라이버시 관련 교육이 지속적으로 제공될 필요가 있으며, 교육은 인식 향상에 기여할 뿐 만 아니라 실천 행위에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있도록 개발ㆍ적용되어야 할 것이다.

Privacy is a basic human need and recognized as one of the most important concepts in nursing. This study aims to determine fertility-center nurses’ perception and performance protecting patients’ privacy, and to contribute to develop educational programs for improving the quality of nursing. 149 fertility center nurses in 9 hospitals using EMR or OCS were chosen by convenience sampling. Perception and performance averaged 4.26 and 3.67 (out of 5), respectively. Most nurses (94.7%) recognized the importance of protecting patient privacy in a fertility center, and 80.5% received patient privacy education in the past. There was a distinct difference between the perception and performance of protecting patient privacy. Performance of protecting patient privacy had a positive correlation with perception. Fertility-center nurses need continuing education for protecting patient privacy. Privacy education can not only promote the perception, but it can also improve the performance of protecting patient privacy.
