노인대상 자원봉사 활동이 대학생의 노인에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행동에 미치는 영향

The Effects of the Participation in the Voluntary Service for the Elderly on the Cognition about the Elderly of Physical Therapy Students

본 연구는 부산소재 S 대학교 물리치료학과에 다니는 대학생 99명을 대상으로 자원봉사활동이 노인에 대한 지식, 태도 및 행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 기존 연구자들이 사용하였던 설문지를 이용하여 대학생들에게 배포하여 자기 기입식으로 설문지를 작성하도록 하였다. 본 연구 결과 자원봉사 경험이 있는 대학생이 경험이 없는 대학생에 비해 노인에 대한 지식은 통계적으로도 유의하게 낮았다. 사회복지관에서 자원봉사한 대학생이 노인에 대한 태도가 노인요양시설과 치매전문요양시설에서 자원봉사한 대학생에 비해 긍정적이었으며, 자원봉사활동에 대해 불만족한 대학생이 노인에 대한 행동이 보통과 만족한 대학생에 비해 더 부정적이었다. 또한 노인에 대한 태도가 부정적일 때 지식이 낮고 행동 역시 부정적이라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과들은 노인요양원과 치매전문요양원과 같이 노인의 부정적인 면을 보게 되는 곳에서 봉사활동을 하는 경우와 봉사활동에 불만족하게 되면 노인에 대한 인식이 더 부정적이 된다는 것을 알려주는 것이다.

This study is to find out the effects of the participation in the voluntary service for the elderly on the attitude, knowledge and behavior about the elderly. The subjects (99 persons) were college students at the department of physical therapy in S university. we employed the questionnaire which had been used by researcher. In the result, the knowledge about the elderly was decreased significantly. The college students who worked in a social welfare center for voluntary service had a good attitude about the elderly than the students who participated in nursing home service center and in the service of welfare center for the senile dementia. And the college students who had an unsatisfactory feel about the voluntary service showed more the bad behavior about the elderly than the students who had a ordinary or satisfactory feel at participating in his voluntary service. We knew that when the students was negative about the attitudes to the elderly, the student’s knowledge concerned with the elderly was decreased and the behaviors also were negative about the elderly. In conclusion, we find out that the college students’ cognitions about the elderly were changed not a positive feel, but a negative feel when they participated to the voluntary service in the center for helping the elderly.
