노인간호 교육프로그램이 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 태도 및 행동에 미치는 영향

The Effects of an Elderly Nursing Education Program on Nursing Students’ Attitude and Behavior toward the Elderly

본 연구는 간호대학생에게 적용한 노인간호 교육프로그램이 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 태도 및 행동에 미치는 효과를 규명하고자 실시한 유사실험 연구이다. 2007년 8월 28일부터 2007년 12월 1일까지 충청북도 소재 일개 대학에 재학 중인 간호학과 2학년 학생 82명을 대상으로 실험 1(노인간호 교육 및 노인유사체험)과 실험 2(노인간호 실습)로 구성된 노인간호 교육프로그램을 적용하여 실험 전과 실험 1 종료 후 및 실험 2 종료 후에 노인에 대한 태도 및 행동을 파악하였다. 본 연구에서 실시한 노인간호 교육프로그램은 노인에 대한 전체 태도에는 영향을 주지 못했으나 하위영역 중 사회적영역과 노인에 대한 행동에서 시간에 따른 의미 있는 변화를 보였다. 따라서 본 노인간호 교육프로그램을 수정ㆍ보완하고 긍정적인 효과를 살려 간호학 교육과정에 적용한다면 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 실제적인 이해도를 높이고 노인에 대한 태도개선을 통해 긍정적인 행동으로까지 연결될 수 있도록 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Purpose: This is a quasi-experimental study for examining the effects of an gerontological nursing education program applied to nursing students on the students’ attitude and behavior toward the elderly. Methods: Data were collected from August 28 to December 1, 2007 and the subjects of this study were 82 nursing students. The experiment was conducted with an gerontological nursing education program consisting of experiment 1 (gerontologcial nursing education and aging simulation experiences) and experiment 2 (gerontological nursing practice). Results: Among the five domains of attitude toward the elderly only the social domain and behavior toward the elderly showed significant difference over time. Conclusion: If the elderly nursing education program used in this study is refined and applied to nursing education programs, the program is expected to enhance nursing students’ understanding of the aged, to change their attitude toward the aged positively and ultimately to induce their positive behavior toward the elderly.
