저시력인의 장애유형별 스크린객체에 대한 웹접근성 선호 연구

A Study on Preference of Web Accessibility for Screen Objects by Disability Types of Persons with Low Vision

이러닝의 교육문화 환경개선에 대한 국제적인 관심과 역할이 증대하고 있는 시점에 우리나라는 장애인에 대한 정보접근에 관한 노력을 기울이고 있으며, 더욱이 저시력인을 포함한 시력장애인의 웹접근성과 사용성을 높이기 위하여 정부와 일반기업 등이 다양한 시도를 하고 있다. 하지만 시력장애인에 대한 상황을 면밀하게 살펴보려면 전맹인의 숫자보다 월등히 많은 저시력인에 대한 정보접근 실태와 특수성에 주목해야 할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 저시력인을 중심으로 시력과 시야특성별로 스크린에 나타나는 웹콘텐츠에 대한 선호도를 분석하여 문제점을 제시함으로써 시력장애 웹접근성 향상 프로그램 개발에 도움을 주고자 하였다. 이를 위해 스크린에 나타나는 웹콘텐츠의 사용편의성 및 접근성에 관하여 저시력인을 대상으로 인터뷰 설문조사를 실시하고 사용유형별로 분석하였다. 저시력인은 전맹인과 달리 스크린객체를 구별할 수 있는 지원도구를 사용하여 조금만 도움을 주어도 편리하게 사용할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제시하는 시력과 시야에 따른 스크린객체 선호도를 적용하여 프로그램을 개발한다면 저시력인들의 웹접근성 제공에 상당한 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

There has been growing interest in environmental improvement of e-learning internationally. Korea is also making efforts to accessibility of information for persons with disabilities, making laws about ‘Disability Discrimination and Remedy of Right Act’ as well as establishing ‘Korean Web Contents Accessibility Guidelines 2.0’. There have also been many attempts to improve accessibility and usability of web contents for persons with visual impairments, such as providing assistive software and tools, by governments and corporations. However, it is necessary to pay attention to status and characteristics of persons with low vision because the number of persons with low vision is much higher than that of blind persons. In this paper, we suggest ways of improving existing assistive software and tools for making persons with low vision more accessible to web contents, by analyzing preference about web contents on screen for persons with low vision, grouping by types of visual impairments: sight and vision. To this end, we conducted a survey on 50 persons with low vision about accessibility and usability of web contents on screen, and analyzed results by types of use. We believe that our results will improve assistive software and tools further in access and use of web contents for persons with low vision.
