A Study on the Relation Analysis between the Characteristics of Transportation Energy Consumption and Urban Forms

The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of transportation energy consumption and urban forms - such as city size, density, population, area, road condition and etc. - of small and middle size city in Korea. The main themes of this study are as follows. 1) which size of city population, density, area and etc. minimizes/decreases transportation energy consumption? 2) which one is more suitable alternatives of sustainable urban forms from a practical point of transportation energy consumption? According to the analysis resulted from this study, results have been summarized as below. 1) according to the preceding study on the relationship between the transportation energy consumption and city population, when the city population is increase, energy consumption is decrease. In this case, when the city population is increase, transportation energy consumption per automobile is not decrease. 2) when the city density is increase, energy consumption tends to decrease. 3) while the ratio and length of road do not related to the transportation energy consumption, but road density does. 4) when the ratio of apartment in city is increase, energy consumption tends to increase. And if the centrality of city is higher, energy consumption tends to increase.
