Determinants of Residential Satisfaction - The case of Ulsan Metropolitan Area, Korea

Most studies concerning the determinants of residential satisfaction focus on the derivation of major among many residential environment factors mainly using factor analysis or regression analysis. Shortcomings of such studies are weak explanatory power of the model, dubious individual respondant s evaluation ability for over-all environment, and the lack of practical applicability. The paper aims to develop a new analytic method, for the determinants of residential satisfaction . The procedures of the approach are as follows. First, overall satisfaction degree is derived from satisfaction degrees of detailed sub-items reflect the relative importance of items. In addition the contribution ratio of each item to overall satisfaction degree is calculated. The determinants of residential satisfaction are decided according to the contribution ratio of each item
