보편적 가치와 집단따돌림 참여 행동과의 관계

The Relationship Between Universal Values and Bullying Participant Roles: Mediating Effects of Moral Emotions and Moral Disengagement

본 연구는 보편적 가치와 집단따돌림의 참여 행동과의 관계에서 도덕적 정서와 도덕적 이탈의 매개 효과를 검증함으로써, 보편적 가치로부터 집단따돌림 참여 행동으로 이어지는 일련의 심리적 과정에 대한 통합적 이해를 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 남녀 고등학생 521명을 대상으로 Schwartz의 가치묘사질문지(PVQ-R), 집단따돌림 참여행동 척도(BPBQ), 공감, 감사, 도덕적 분노 및 도덕적 이탈 기제 척도를 사용하여 각각의 변인을 측정하고, 3개의 가설적 매개 모형을 구조방정식 모형을 통해 검증하였다. 그 결과, 자기초월 가치와 방어 행동 간의 관계에서 도덕적 정서(공감, 감사, 도덕적 분노)의 매개효과, 자기고양 가치와 가해/동조 행동 간의 관계에서 도덕적 이탈의 매개효과, 개인적 초점 가치와 방관 행동 간의 관계에서 도덕적 이탈의 매개효과가 각각 지지되었다. 추가적인 탐색적 분석 결과, 보편주의 가치는 공감을 통해, 박애 가치는 도덕적 분노를 통해 적극방어 행동을 더 잘 예측할 수 있다는 것을 관찰하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의, 교육적·임상적 함의, 제한점 및 미래의 연구 방향 등에 대하여 논의하였다.

This study investigated the relationship between universal values and participant behaviors in bullying. It focused on developing a mediation model of moral emotions and moral disengagement in the pathway from universal values to participant behaviors in bullying. 521 high school students were measured on their values, bullying participant behaviors, empathy, gratitude, moral outrage, and moral disengagement. Three postulated mediation models were evaluated through structural equation modeling. The results supported all three models and the following effects: (1) a mediating effect of moral emotions (empathy, gratitude and moral outrage) on the path from self-transcendence to defending behaviors, (2) a mediating effect of moral disengagement between self-enhancement and bullying/bullying-assisting behaviors, and (3) a mediating effect of moral disengagement between personal-focus values and bystanding behaviors. Exploratory analysis revealed that active defending behaviors could be better predicted by universalism via empathy and by benevolence via moral outrage. The significance of the study, implications for educational and clinical practice, limitations, and future directions were also discussed.
