문화적 공존을 위한 단군신화의 재해석

Reinterpretation of ‘the Myth of Dangun’ for Cultural Coexistence

세계는 지구촌이라 일컬을 만큼 급속하게 글로벌화되고 있다. 이런 흐름은문화의 현상 또한 다양하고 복잡하게 변모시키고 있는데, 세계적인 보편성과지역적인 특수성을 아우르는 글로컬(glocal)적 문화가 이에 대한 대표적인 예이다. 그러나 우리사회가 다양한 문화를 포용하고 혼융해야 하는 글로컬적 문화로나아가는 데는 장애물도 적지 않다. 그 가운데 우리에게 의식적, 무의식적으로단일민족이라는 순혈주의와 이에 기반을 둔 단군신화는 넘어야할 산이다. 변화된 시대는 단군신화에 대해 창조적 재해석을 요구하고 있다. 즉, 지금까지우리에게 ‘단일’, ‘민족’이 강조되면서 상대적으로 간과되었던 ‘공존과 통합’이라는 가치를 발굴할 필요가 있다. 단군신화의 가치 재발견을 위해 브루스 링컨의 신화연구방법론을 활용했다. 대립적인 신화소(神話素)들의 관계와 서열의 변화를 점검하고 이를 정당화하는데 사용되는 논리를 살피는 방법을 통해 단군신화의 성격과 구조를 분석했다. 이와 함께 서로 다른 문화를 가졌던 환웅집단과 웅녀집단이 혼융문화를 이룰 수 있었던 배경에 어떤 것들이 있는지를 살핀 결과, 단군신화가 가진 공존ㆍ소통ㆍ관용의 가치를 발견할 수 있었다. 단군신화에 담긴 문화혼융의 정신은 다문화 시대에 통합과 공존의 논리를 창출하는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로기대된다.

The world is rapidly globalized to the extent that it is called a global village. Such trend has made cultures more diverse and complex and created glocal cultures that have global universality and local speciality at the same time. There are many obstacles for Korea to have a glocal culture by embracing and combining diverse cultures. One of the obstacles is the myth of Dangun, which makes Korean people feel proud of being pure blood and having ethnic homogeneity consciously and subconsciously. The changed era demands creative reinterpretations of the myth of Dangun. And it is time to discover the value of ‘coexistence and integration’ that were overlooked when ‘oneness’ and ‘Korean people’ were emphasized. To rediscover the value of the myth of Dangun, myth research methodology by Bruce Lincoln was used. The characteristics and structure of the myth of Dangun were analyzed by checking the relationship between opposing mythemes and changes in order and examining the logic used to justify it. In addition, it was possible to discover the values of coexistence,communication, and tolerance that the myth of Dangun contains by examining the background of hybrid culture created by two different culture groups, Hwanung and Ungnyeo groups. It is expected that the spirit of hybrid culture contained in the myth of Dangun will contribute to the development of the reasoning for coexistence in the multicultural era.
