Searching for the Passive Dimensions: Toward a Typology of Citizen Participation

시민참여는 다양하게 정의되지만, 체계적인 구분에 의한 유형은 실재하는 제도 및행동이 주를 이룬다. 본 연구는 시민참여 유형의 이론적 프레임 확장을 목적으로, 행동 적-태도적, 건설적-파괴적, 그리고 능동적-수동적 세 가지 차원의 여덟가지로 분류한 다. 특히, 기존연구에는 태도적 차원과 혼용해오던 수동적 차원에 집중해 광의의 시민 참여 개념을 구축하며, 이를 통해 시민참여 유형에 관한 연구를 검토한 결과 한 가지 유형에만 연구가 편중됨을 확인한다. 이러한 이론적 간극을 보완하기 위해 본 연구는 확장된 시민참여 유형을 중심으로 여러 연구의제를 제시한다.

Various components constitute the concept of citizen participation, but the extant classification of the participation tends to be limited in a few independent dimensions. In order for theoretical expansion of participation typology, this study incorporates three dimensions of participation that formulate eight types of participation, stressing passive dimension. Based on this typology, it is investigated that existing literature in Korean context tends to focus on a few types associated with constructive, behavioral, and active dimensions. Finally, this study proposes some research agendas for the passive and other unaccustomed dimensions of citizen participation.
