Very few directors are known as well as Ridley Scott for their deep impact on modern culture. His work spans various genres and hits on vast historical backgrounds. His most notable work was with his approach towards science fiction. From ancient Egypt to extra-solar futuristic planets, or from biographies of a national hero to creating a comedy of a swindler, the spectrum of the stories that he presented is extensive. Nonetheless, all his films are imbedded with his unique directing philosophy. It is one of the most important characteristics of his approach to film making. One might easily miss this aspect if criticizing him entirely based upon a single film. Ridley Scott suggests the idea of using life affirmations to us by portraying the cumulative effects made by different characters cross cultures and winding through different eras. Through his work, it appears the only opportunity mortals have in the fight against death is through making events by way of affirmation. This study is reflective of his symbolism and portrayal of monumental moments, such as life, death and different creations in his films. This is based upon all 27 movies he directed until 2020 as context. This study will provide a new viewpoint to understand Ridley Scott s filmography.
