Exploring Educational Gap Among Regions in Daegu and Its Solution: Analysis of Perceptions by Education-Related Groups

[연구목적] 본 연구의 일차적인 목적은 대구광역시의 교육격차 실태를 파악하고 관련 집단의 인식을 분석하며, 학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 지역 수준 요인을 규명함으로써 구·군별 교육격차 해소를 위한 정책을 제안하는 것이다. [연구방법] 먼저, 교육 관련 집단인 학생, 학부모, 교원 및 공무원의 교육만족도 분석 모형을 제시하고 검증하였다. 다음으로 구군 간 교육만족도 차이를 분석하였으며, 아울러 2수준의 위계적회귀분석 모형을 이용하여 학생의 국어, 수학, 영어 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. [연구결과] 기술통계 분석에 이어 측정 구인의 2차 요인 구조에 대한 확인적 요인분석 결과 모형적합도가 확인되었다. 또한 하위요인별로 구군 간 교육만족도에 차이가 있음이 나타났다. 아울러 국어, 수학, 영어 학업성취도에 대한 위계적 회귀분석 결과 학교환경이나 부모와의 관계를 개선하려는 지역 차원의 노력이 학생들의 학업성취도를 높일 수 있음이 확인되었다. [결론] 이상의 연구결과를 통하여 학생의 만족도는 반드시 지역의 경제수준에 비례하지 않으며, 학생을 위한 지역수준의 투자가 좋은 만족도로 귀결될 수 있음이 확인되었다. 아울러 학교환경 개선이나 학부모 교육은 학생의 학업성취도 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to propose a policy for bridging the education gap by district through an analysis of the case of Daegu Metropolitan City, to analyze the perceptions of education-related groups, and to find regional-level factors affecting student achievement. [Methods] First, the educational satisfaction of education-related groups, students, parents, teachers, and civil servants, was examined, and differences between the districts were analyzed. In addition, a two-level hierarchical linear model analysis was conducted to analyze the factors affecting student’s academic achievement. [Results] Following descriptive statistics, a confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the model fit of a second-order factor structure. A difference in education satisfaction was found among districts. In addition, a hierarchical linear model analysis on academic achievement confirmed that efforts at the local level to improve the school environment or relationships with parents can increase student’s academic achievement. [Conclusion] It was confirmed that the student’s satisfaction is not necessarily proportional to the regional economic level, and that the investment at the local level for the student can result in good satisfaction. In addition, improvement of the school environment and parent education are expected to contribute to the improvement of student achievement.
