청동기시대 복원주거의 화재실험

Fire experiments of the reconstructed dwelling sites of the Bronze Age

청동기시대 주거지에 대한 화재실험을 바탕으로 부재와 지붕구조의 추정, 나아가 발화지점을 찾아 자ㆍ타의적 방화의 가능성을 추정하여 보았다. 우선 주거지 부재와 지붕구조의 추정은 화재폐기실험과 잔존한 주거지 바닥에서 확인되는 탄화목을 관찰함으로서 가능하였다. 발화지점의 추정은 발화부와 출화부, 화원부를 조사하고 목재의 도괴상황 및 구열흔이 나타나는 탄목의 관찰을 통해 파악할 수 있었다. 주거지에서 발화지점을 찾는 것은 쉽지 않다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 흔적을 찾아야 하는 것은 당시 주거의 폐기상황이 자ㆍ타의적 방화인지 실화인지를 구별하여 사회적 상황을 살 펴보는 데 있어 중요하기 때문이다. 또한 방화와 실화의 흔적은 현재의 주거지 조건하에서는 찾기 쉬운 일이 아니나, 발화지점을 추정하고 화재주거지 내부에서 유물의 잔존 상황, 마을 내 화재주거지의 분포상황 등 여러 관점에서 살펴보면 가능하다.

On the basis of the fire experiments of the reconstructed dwelling sites of the Bronze Age, their roof structure and architectural wood as well as ignition spot are traced. In addition the nature of fire such as whether the fire was accidental or intentional is examined. Firstly the architectural wood and the roof structures are estimated by way of the observation of the remained carbonic wood on the occupational floors as well as fire experiments. The estimation of an ignition spot could be made by investigating the sections of ignition, outbreak of fire and origin of fire, and through the observation of the carbonic wood, where the collapse situation of wood and the trace of heat in the opening were demonstrated. It is not easy to find the ignition spot in a dwelling site. Nonetheless, the reason why tracing the ignition spot must be conducted is that it is very essential to evaluate the social situation of the past by way of discovering whether the fire might be accidental or intentional. In addition, it is extremely hard to infer whether the fire might be intentional or accidental under the present remaining conditions of the dwelling sites. However the inference is possible through the estimation of the ignition spot and the investigation into various aspects such as the remaining conditions of artifacts on the dwelling floors and the distributional patterns of the fired dwelling sites within the related village.
