호서지방 전기 무문토기 문양의 변천과정 연구

Chronology of Mumun-Pottery Designs in the early Korean Bronze Age of Hoseo area

본고에서는 호서지방 전기 무문토기의 문양을 복합문양ㆍ단독문양ㆍ기타문양으로 나누어서 편년하였다. 그 결과 복합문양은 ‘이중구연단사선문→이중구연단사선구순각목문→이중구연단사선구순각목공열문ㆍ이중구연단산사선공열문→구순각목공열문’, 단독문양은 ‘단사선ㆍ구순각목문→공열문’, 기타문양은 공열문의 출현 전까지 유행했던 것으로 편년되었다. 이러한 편년관은 기존의 가락동식토기+역삼동식토기⇒흔암리식토기로 보는 편년관 및 가락동식토기ㆍ역삼동식토기ㆍ흔암리식토기를 동시기의 지역적 문화로 보는 관점과 다른 것이다. 호서지방 전기 토기문양의 변천단계는 Ⅰ단계-가락동식토기로만 구성되는 단계, Ⅱ단계-가락동식토기+흔암리식토기로 구성되는 단계, Ⅲ단계-흔암리식토기+역삼동식토기로 구성되는 단계, Ⅳ단계-역삼동식토기로만 구성되는 단계로 나눌 수 있다. 흔암리식토기는 가락동식토기에서 역삼동식토기로 변천하는 과정에서 나타나는 다양한 조합의 문양이 시문된 토기이며, 토기형식이 가락동에서 역삼동식으로 변천하는 과정에서 주거지의 형태도 둔산식에서 관산리식으로 변천한다. 이러한 토기형식의 선후관계는 서울ㆍ경기지역의 탄소연대에서도 유사하게 나타난다. 그러므로 흔암리유형은 금강유역의 가락동유형이 차령산맥 일대로 확산되는 과정에서 출현한 유형이며, 역삼동유형은 흔암리유형이 서울ㆍ경기ㆍ영서 지방으로 확산되는 과정에서 출현한 유 형으로 볼 수 있다.

The central concern in this paper is to discuss the pottery pattern of the early Bronze Age of Hoseo area in a chronological way. The current understanding of the pottery pattern of the Bronze Age is that Heunamri Type Pottery was formed by influence of Garakdong Type Pottery and Yeoksamdong Type Pottery. Recently some studies presented that those three pottery pattern were regional features. This paper therefore aims to re-examine the transition of the pottery pattern of the early Bronze Age of the Hoseo area using recently excavated material. Based on this re-examination of the material, the early Bronze Age of the Hoseo area can be divided into four phases in a chronological way. : The phase Ⅰ is characterized by only Garakdong Type Pottery, the phase Ⅱ is formated by Garakdong Type Pottery and Heunamri Type Pottery, the phase Ⅲ is consisted of Heunamri Type Pottery and Yeoksamdong Type Pottery, and The phase Ⅳ is characterized by only Yeoksamdong Type Pottery. This analysis is proved by carbon dating techniques. Heunamri Type Pottery is the pottery with the compounded patterns in the various ways which comes from a transition from Garakdong Type Pottery to Yeoksamdong Type Pottery. In this change, The type of the dwellings in this area is also changed from Dunsanri Type to Gwansnari Type. The results of the analysis appears to suggest that those three Types (Heunamri Type Pottery, Garakdong Type Pottery, Yeoksamdong Type Pottery) in Hoseo area are not separately regional types but connected types with each other in a system.
