‘瓦質土器 樂浪影響說’의 검토

Review on the theory of Wajil pottery and Lelang commandery

瓦質土器는 낙동강유역권의 점토대토기가 漢式土器에 기원하는 낙랑토기의 영향으로 일대 변화를 일으켜 성립된 새로운 토기양식이라 이해하는 것이 일반적이었다. 그렇기 때문에 와질토기는 낙랑군 설치가 편년연구에서 상한연대의 기준이 되어 왔다. 뿐만아니라 낙랑군에서 낙동강유역권으로 유물이 반입되거나 또는 새로운 문화가 이입되는 데에는 상당한 시간이 걸릴 것이라고 전제하는 경사편년관으로 연대를 정해왔다. 한편 와질토기의 전국영향설을 주장하는 연구자도 있으나, 이는 기술적 계보가 전국시대나 고조선과 연결된다는 것이지, 이입경로와 시기는 낙랑군과 관련된다고 보는 것이기 때문에 낙랑영향설과 근본이 다르지 않다. 이 글에서는 낙동강유역권의 와질토기가 낙랑토기의 영향 하에 제작되었다는 설을 검증하기 위하여 우선 양 지역의 타날문단경호를 비교하였다. 그 결과 제작기법면에서 서로 뚜렷한 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 나아가 성주 예산리, 사천 늑도, 울산 달천 유적 등지에서 낙랑군 설치보다 시기가 소급될 것으로 보이는 타날문토기의 존재를 확인했다. 이 토기들은 그 제작법이 낙랑토기와 다르며 오히려 전국토기에 통하고 구체적으로는 중국 요동지역의 토기들과 유사함을 밝혔다. 이를 바탕으로 낙동강유역권에서 와질토기가 발생하는 배경은 낙랑군의 설치에 따른 여파가 아니라 이미 그 이전에 중국동북지방과 북부구주, 오키나와까지를 연결하는 국제교역망에 낙동강유역권이 편입된 것이 계기가 되었다고 보았다. 또한 그러한 국제교역망을 운영한 주체를 위만조선으로 판단했다.

It has been a general understanding that Wajil pottery(pottery which have similar features with roof tile in intensity)had appeared by influence of Han(漢)style pottery, namely Lelang pottery, from the prior pottery culture(clay-rimmed pottery culture) in Young-Nam region. This understanding have contributed to regard the upper limit date of Wajil pottery as the time of installation of Lelang commandery. There also has been opposing understanding about the appearance background of Wajil pottery; the hypothesis which are relating warring states period pottery to Wajil pottery. But, it is not quite differ from the former because it also connect the appearance date of Wajil pottery to the time of installation of Lelang commandery. This paper intends to clarify that there seems distinction in producing techniques of short-neck jar excavated from the both regions. In the sites of Nakdong river basin such as Seong-ju, Neuk-do, Ul-san, beating pottery which could be dated earlier than the time of installation of Lelang commandery have been excavated. The producing techniques of these pottery are much similar with that of warring states period pottery, especially in that of east region of liaoning, rather than pottery of Lelang. Thus, the background of appearance of Wajil pottery in Nak dong river basin is owing to transition of its own position in the international trade network. That network that was ranged from north-east region of China, north Kyushu to Okinawa was being operated mainly by Wiman-joseon(衛滿朝鮮).
